On this year’s Latina History Day and International Women’s Day, Annaguey McCann celebrated by participating in HOPE’s (Hispanas Organized for Political Equality) Latina History Day Conference held at the JW Marriott Los Angeles L.A. LIVE on March 8. This is HOPE’s 33rd year holding this event where over 1,200 attendees gathered to recognize the historic and current achievements of Latinas, while embracing the rich diversity of the Latina experience. This year’s conference theme – “Soar: Reach New Heights,” inspired participants to take flight and pursue boundless opportunities. The conference included inspirational keynote addresses and speeches from dynamic individuals including author Alejandra Campoverdi, writer Linda Yvette Chavez, former HUD Secretary Julian Castro, actress Jaina Lee Ortiz, and many more.
Partner Maribeth Annaguey co-presented an inspirational panel titled “Empowering Entrepreneurial Spirit: Transforming Ideas Into Reality,” sponsored by The Estée Lauder Companies. Other panelists included Director of Global Pro Artistry at Estée Lauder Jocelyn Biga, Founder of Clara for Creators Christen Nino De Gusman, and News Anchor of Noticiero Telemundo 52 Sandra O’Neill who moderated the session. This workshop explored the unique strengths, challenges, and opportunities that entrepreneurs face, and panelists shared their insights on how they charted their own paths to success.
As a supporter of this event that empowers Latinas with resources to advance their careers, education, small businesses, and community leadership, Annaguey McCann sponsored a group of Orangewood High School students to the Conference, which also included workshops designed for high school students to prepare for and pursue vital opportunities for their future.
Maribeth proudly serves on the Board of Directors for HOPE, a nonprofit, nonpartisan organization that prepares and supports Latinas as civic leaders, advocates for policy changes that champion equity for Latinas, and educates the public on the experiences and contributions of Latinas to our economy and society. For over 30 years, HOPE’s innovative programming has served 65,000 Latinas and touched the lives of several thousand more through its advocacy efforts.
