Business litigator Raena W. Ohiri has strengthened litigation and trial teams with her skills in legal research, dispositive motions, discovery, and appellate briefs, working on commercial disputes from inception through final settlement conference and appeal. Her dispute resolution experience includes such areas of law as employment, premises and products liability, white collar crimes, personal injury, legal malpractice, copyright and patent infringement, contracts and business disputes, bad faith insurance claims, real estate litigation and trade secret litigation.

Clients and colleagues value her collaborative style, intellectual curiosity, and the novel view she contributes to litigation strategies. Working with plaintiffs and defendants in individual claims as well as high-volume matters, Raena has represented municipalities, global retailers, entrepreneurs, and businesses of all sizes in local, state and federal disputes and actions throughout California.

Raena earned her J.D. from Loyola Law School (LLS), where she trained as a student mediator and concurrently served as an extern for Los Angeles Superior Court. She was a dedicated mentor in LLS’s Young Lawyers Program, which supports high school students interested in the profession, and Raena continues to work with youth in the community. In addition, Raena has been a panel presenter and an invited speaker on mentorship and civil litigation to community and professional audiences.

Conversational in Japanese, Raena completed legal courses in Tokyo, Japan. Following her early career experiences at various litigation firms, Raena joined Annaguey McCann in 2023 to work more closely with clients and professionals committed to excellence and inclusiveness in the legal profession.

EXPERIENCE

Representative Matters

  • Defended a large municipality and its officials in a series of related actions, including a civil rights case, with our client prevailing on summary judgment. The U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit affirmed.
  • Represented a global real estate brokerage company in defense of a lawsuit arising from an alleged breach of contract.
  • Defended a Fortune 500 company in a premises liability action. Prevailed on motion for summary judgment. The matter was not appealed.
